Who We Are

A Short Introduction

We, the FID Anglo-American Culture, are at your service and provide access to various research sources as well as offering a platform to self-archive your work. The FID is a cooperation between Göttingen State and University Library and the Branch Library North American Studies of the University Library of the Freie Universität Berlin and is currently funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

This includes Germany-based scholars and students conducting research in sub-fields, such as cultural studies, economics, English language teaching, gender studies, geography, history, law, linguistics, literary studies, media studies, medieval studies, political science, postcolonial studies, social sciences, etc. 

If you need specialist literature, primary sources, or other materials not available via the established German document delivery services, please contact us with your requests and suggestions via fid-aac@sub.uni-goettingen or via our request forms.

The Library AAC

  • collects specialized literature, comics, graphic novels, and TV series.
  • provides access to resources you need—digitally or via interlibrary loan.
  • licenses research databases on demand.
  • offers digitisation on demand.
  • offers workshops and practical tips on the topics related to our services.

To ensure that you get all the literature you need, please tell us what you miss: If a title is not available via the standard German document delivery services, please send your request. We will check availability and, if possible, provide access for you as quickly as possible.

We expressly invite exchange between you as researchers and us at the library to ensure that our services meet your requirements. Please send us your feedback and suggestions for additional services or topics you would like us to address.
